Some of the most tender hearts I know have had to develop invisible armor over the years, manifesting as chronic patterns of tension in their bodies. We often hold protection and hyper vigilance in our jaws & neck, front and back of the heart, inner thighs and pelvic floor. This can be for so many reasons-unprocessed emotions, grief, loss, heartbreak, not feeling safe to be heard or take up space, rejection, fear, any kind of abuse, body violation, surgery, illness, or past life trauma.
As I have worked to set my own body free of the past and allow it to catch up to what is happening NOW, I have realized how Soft my true essence is. I have felt how effortful and taxing it is to always be bracing for the next thing and carrying a heavy shield.
When we allow our bodies to soften in sacred space, within like hearted community, we can begin to reprogram the nervous system into safety. Our bodies can become the safest space we know and we can claim them for ourselves as places of gentleness, non-violence and freedom.
Breathwork is an active meditation technique that uses the breath to purge the body of stuck emotional energy. It facilitates release of strong emotions like anger and sadness. It leaves you feeling softer, open and less burdened.
Breathwork can change emotional default settings, lifetime patterns of depression and anxiety, connect you to your intuition, help you access your creativity and open your heart to increased gratitude and self-love. It is a self-healing practice that has changed lives and is an efficient and effective way to emotionally detox.
