Many of us start to feel a low hum of increasing anxiety as the holidays approach. Family dynamics, old wounds, unspoken grievances, old beef between people, roles you don’t want to play anymore but feel powerless to break, addiction or abuse patterns, etc. can bring up fear, sadness, and nervousness about what might happen this time. You may feel emotionally armored in advance because your family’s politics or values are much different than yours and that can create conflict or confrontation. Your choices with your body, how you feed yourself, your sexual orientation, politics, job or partner choices might feel under attack. You might even emotionally feel a regression to an earlier age when you feel less powerful and grounded as you approach “home.”
In this Breathwork, we will work with the inner child within who wants love, approval, validation, affection and attention and allow our adult selves to provide those needs in advance. You’ll have a safe space to not be in the holiday spirit and vent out all the advance worries about being with your family. We’ll release any emotional buildup so that you can feel grounded, clear and remember that you are a grownup that is allowed to have boundaries. You’ll also have the recording to use if you need to Stop, Drop & Breathe over the holidays. This will be a gift to yourself of safe space that you create before the storm.
The breath is a high form of technology for self-healing. The breath can help you to stay grounded, stay in your heart and stay present. Breathwork is part catharsis, part socially sanctioned adult temper tantrum, part community building and part psychedelic experience.
Breathwork is an active meditation technique that uses the breath to purge the body of emotional gunk. The experience moves stuck emotional energy and facilitates release of strong emotions like anger and grief. It leaves you feeling softer, open and less burdened.
Breathwork can change emotional default settings, lifetime patterns of depression, anxiety and addiction, connect you to your intuition, help you access your creativity and open your heart to increased gratitude and self-love. It is a self-healing practice that has changed my life and is an efficient and effective way to emotionally detox.
